The long anticipated return of Gemma Ward arrived in the form of the supermodel opening for Prada Spring/Summer 2015, one of Prada’s more toned-down collections. The set was giving off an almost post-apocalyptic feel as it was set in a purple desert. The refined crystal earrings, necklaces (and brocades) mixed with the raw fabrics, top stitched and fringed garments created an interesting contrast between “rich and poor”. A 70s vibe was also very much present (which, in our opinion, is lacking on the runway, but we sense it is making its return).

We have seen the platforms and the flared heels done before by Prada, but the one platform type of shoe present in the collection was an innovative take on the clogged heel. Not just chunky, they are edgy and refined. Not to mention the killer-sharp, black spool heels – deadly.
The loose threads on the garments make us nervous, but it seems natural and organic, a combination that could never go wrong. It’s rather beautiful, it adds more character to the collection.

The casting was as on point as the shoes, not to mention iconic Dutch model Lara Stone closing the show.
